Medical Service

X-Ray

Accessible X-ray imaging for inpatients and outpatients to support diagnosis, treatment and clinical follow-up.

Putra Medical Centre provides X-ray facilities for inpatients and outpatients. X-rays can help doctors examine bones, the chest and other areas when clinically indicated.

When an X-ray may be requested

A doctor may request imaging after an injury, for persistent pain, to assess chest symptoms or to monitor a known condition. The exact views required depend on the area being examined and the clinical question.

Before your examination

Most routine X-rays require little preparation. You may need to remove jewellery, metal objects or clothing covering the area. Tell the radiography team before the examination if you are pregnant or may be pregnant so the request can be reviewed appropriately.

During the X-ray

The radiographer will explain how to stand, sit or lie for each image and may ask you to remain still or briefly hold your breath. The imaging itself is usually quick, although positioning may take additional time.

Results and follow-up

Your referring doctor will interpret the report together with your symptoms and examination. Ask the team how the report will be provided and whether a follow-up consultation is needed.

What to bring

Bring identification, the imaging request or referral, appointment information and relevant earlier images or reports when available.

Arrange your X-ray
